Québec entrepreneurship contest

Develop the entrepreneurial culture in Québec by the implementation and acknowledgement of new enterprises and entrepreneurial projects in schools and in the community.

The Québec Entrepreneurship Contest is in many respects one of a kind. It addresses a niche that is not serviced by the other entrepreneurship contests, because it is geared toward young people in school and the brand new entrepreneurs who are very often only at the business plan stage. Moreover, it is the only contest in Québec that offers bursaries and prizes of such high value, not to mention that it is geared to anyone who lives in Québec.

Contest categories

The contest is divided into three levels, that is, Local, Regional and National. As regards the creation of businesses, the categories of enterprises that are targeted are those in the fields of bio-food, commerce/retail, social economy, operation, transformation and production, technological and technical innovation, services to businesses, and services to individuals.

Local level

At the Local level, a valuable collaboration drives the contest forward, as the Haut-Saint-Laurent joins forces with Beauharnois-Salaberry for the Création d’Entreprise [business creation] segment and the Carrefour Jeunesse Emploi, and the Commission scolaire de la Vallée-des-Tisserands focusing more on the Entrepreneuriat Étudiant [student entrepreneurship] segment. This mutually beneficial organization makes it possible to pool regional efforts and offer laureates larger prizes.

Regional level

The Regional level will this year be organized by the Conseil Économique du Haut-Richelieu in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and will be made up of all the winning projects of each of the Local levels of the Montérégie.
The event will take place on May 6, 2014.

National level

At the National level, more than $130,000 in prizes will be awarded to the laureates who distinguished themselves throughout Québec.

Obviously, the CLD Beauharnois-Salaberry is proud to participate in the organization of such a major contest, as it directly supports one of the primary vocations of the CLD, that is, to promote entrepreneurial culture. Through its mission, the CLD Beauharnois-Salaberry encourages entrepreneurship at all levels.
